Dr. Scholl's Freeze Away Wart Removing Kit Review

I fought with warts as a kid and had them successfully frozen off by a dermatologist. Now I'm thirty and it would seem that I have caught a new set of warts on the back of my hand.I went to the dermatologist to have them frozen off but she wouldn't freeze deep enough and after I healed up the warts came back, literally waiting under the scabs, very frustrating. So I bought this new freeze away, and was able to let it go deep enough to kill the warts. It works, but beware, the second step liquid, it turns scaly white and does not come off, at all!So if you are concerned about appearance, especially women/girls, just stick with the freezing part, it works well enough by itself.I also found that the first time you activate the tip (i.e. freeze it) it doesn't really freeze well, you'll probably have to give it another shot of cold and then it will really work, it should sting and immediately frost the skin right around it.If not, you didn't get it cold enough.Make sure you press it against the wart for long enough, maybe a little longer than the directions, it hurts, but you just have to hang in there and give it time to kill the wart.

Dr. Scholl's Clear Away Wart Remover Medicated Disks, Plantar for Feet, 24-Count Boxes (Pack of 3) Review

I had a wart on my foot for a while hoping that the "duct tape" remedy would work. After a few months I decided I should try something else, so I picked up these.I was skeptical at first since warts are supposedly hard to remove without harsh chemicals or treatments, but these did in fact work!

I kept the medical disks on my foot for about 12-14 days, replacing it (and the "cushioned" covering) every day.The covering seemed like it wouldn't stay on throughout the day, but it actually holds up pretty well and never came off throughout the day.I was especially surprised since my wart was in such a weird spot (right on the top of my 2nd toe). After the 12-14 days my wart simply scrubbed off when I was cleaning it one day, now the area is healing back up nicely. There was very minimal, if any, discomfort when using these.I would recommend these to anyone looking for a cheaper, and just-as-effective solution to get rid of a wart.

Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film Wipes - One Pack of 25 Review

Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film Wipes - One Pack of 25

Every time you remove adhesive tape from skin, it takes skin cells with it.This stuff (Cavilon Barrier Film Wipes), which is very easy to use, provides a layer for the tape to take instead of skin. You wipe a wet sponge applicator on the skin, and the fluid dries to a clear plastic coating.
Personal story:A couple of years ago, someone close to me was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.Given that, she has been very lucky (living almost normally now, and cancer-free for 2 years now), but her medical life since her Whipple surgery has included reconstructive surgeries whose complications have resulted in chronic wounds, hence the need for lots of dressing-changes -- including those with tape-adhered gauze on top and the VAC therapy kind (adhered with a large adhesive sheet, changed twice a week). She's in her late 70's, and the cancer surgery complications left her skin somewhat fragile.
We found out about barrier film wipes (Cavilon brand) from the homecare nurse who came to change her VAC dressing; they also had them (Allkare brand) at the wound care center at a local hospital we visited. There's a spray version of this product, by the way, but the wipes give more control of application (keeping barrier substance out of the wound, for example).
These wipes may seem a little pricey, but they're well worth it, to save fragile skin from irritation which can cause pain and possibly lead to skin break-down and even infection.
I prefer the Cavilon brand, which has in each packet a one-use tiny sponge applicator.Another family member prefers the Allkare brand because the applicator, which is more like a tiny square of thick paper-towel, is "jucier".
Be advised:whichever brand you use, there will be a build-up of residue left where no tape is put over the applied barrier film/fluid, so that has to be dealt with. You can peel it off (easier if you first apply an extraneous layer of the barrier fluid), but it can flake, so you have to take care to keep the plastic flakes/particles out of the wound area. They make wipes of adhesive-tape remover that can be used to remove this barrier film residue also.Allkare makes one that you have to cleanse the skin after using.Triad makes one that does not require cleansing afterwards. They seem to me to work about equally well.
(Of course, if regular showering/bathing is allowed, the plastic residue should come off easily with a little soap&water and gentle scrubbing.)
